Less than an hour from Lisbon, where the Alentejo ends and Ribatejo begins, Agolada is a special place hidden in the middle of the countryside. At the beginning of the 20th century, Luís Adolfo de Sommer built Casa Grande do Monte to support the farm and give some support on hunting days. In the 60’s the house was then remodelled by the father of the current owner, D. António Maria Sommer de Mello, 6th Count of Murça. After his death, in 1995, Agolada de Cima was divided into three parts that remained behind its children.
In 2001, founder and visionary Branca Franqueira opened the farm to guests and began welcoming people, creating dazzling and unique weddings and a variety of celebrations. Agolada de Cima was one of the first farms in Portugal to do weddings and big events.
After many years, in around 2010 as the trend shifted from traditional weddings in the countryside to urban chic weddings in the city, Branca started her own wedding & event company Vows Portugal, headquartered in Lisbon and offering culture, style and innovation to couples with wanderlust and adventure. As Portugal became increasingly recognised as a more than deserving destination for weddings, Vows and Agolada have been specialising on weddings & events from mostly foreigners, who are enchanted by Portugal’s endless beauty, delicious food and of course, incredible weather conditions.
Since 2014 the base has been at the LX Factory’s office space. With constant updates to our team and image ,today a young, multicultural and creative team works alongside Branca’s everlasting passion to create inspiring dreams in Portugal like no other.
